Nez Perce County election officials are reminding residents of key deadlines as the May 19 primary election approaches, with early voting set to close this Friday.
Voters who cannot make it to the polls on Election Day have until Friday, May 15, to cast ballots in person during the early voting period. The Auditor Recorder’s Office, located inside the Nez Perce County Courthouse at 1230 Main Street in Lewiston, is accepting early ballots weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For those who requested absentee or mail-in ballots, officials are emphasizing that physical delivery is what counts — not the postmark. All returned ballots must arrive at the Auditor Recorder’s Office no later than 8 p.m. on May 19 to be included in the official tally. Ballots received after that cutoff, regardless of when they were mailed, will not be counted.
Voters with questions about eligibility or ballot status are encouraged to contact the Nez Perce County Auditor Recorder’s Office directly before the deadlines pass.
