Two Dead, Two Hospitalized After Head-On Collision on US-95 Near Sagle
BONNER COUNTY, Idaho — Two Sandpoint men died Sunday afternoon following a head-on collision on US-95 near milepost 469 in Bonner County, close to Sagle. Idaho State Police are investigating the crash, which occurred around 1:25 p.m. on May 25.
An 18-year-old Sandpoint male was driving a red 2011 Buick LaCrosse southbound when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a white 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup traveling northbound. The driver of the Buick and his passenger — a 48-year-old Sandpoint man — both died at the scene. The 65-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram and his passenger were taken to a local hospital; one arrived by ground ambulance and the other by air.
Authorities noted all four occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The roadway was intermittently closed for roughly three hours while crews responded to the scene.
Next of kin had not yet been notified as of the initial report. The investigation remains open.
US-95 is one of Idaho’s primary north-south corridors through the Panhandle region and has been the site of numerous serious crashes in recent years. Road construction has also affected other key Idaho transportation corridors, highlighting ongoing safety and infrastructure concerns across the state.
