Idaho PBS will host Be My Neighbor Day on Saturday, August 1, at Lapwai High School, bringing popular children’s television characters to the community for a free celebration aimed at families with young children.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat, characters from the PBS Kids programming lineup. Children ages 3 to 8 are the primary audience, though the station welcomes families of all ages to attend.
Throughout the four-hour gathering, organizers have planned interactive activities, raffles, and giveaways for attendees. There is no admission charge to participate.
The initiative reflects Idaho PBS’s broader effort to connect public television programming with local communities across the state. Be My Neighbor Day events have become an annual tradition for the station, offering families a chance to engage with beloved characters and enjoy free entertainment in their region.
Lapwai, home to the Nez Perce Tribe’s headquarters, continues to serve as a cultural and community hub for the area. The selection of Lapwai High School as the venue provides accessible space for families throughout Nez Perce County to participate.
Parents and caregivers interested in attending should plan to arrive during the event window; organizers have not announced advance registration requirements. Families are encouraged to bring children to interact with the characters and enjoy the scheduled activities.
