Interstate highway

A 43-year-old Lapwai man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 95 early Monday morning, according to Idaho State Police.

The collision occurred just after midnight near milepost 307, close to Clearwater River Casino. The victim was walking in the northbound lane when a 1994 Honda Accord, driven by a 26-year-old Clarkston man, struck him. The Honda had recently merged onto the highway from Nez Perce Road.

Emergency responders transported the injured pedestrian to a hospital for treatment. The northbound lanes of Highway 95 were partially blocked for approximately two hours while authorities responded to the scene and conducted their investigation.

Idaho State Police continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine contributing factors to the collision.

The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns on U.S. Highway 95 in the Lewiston area. The highway remains a critical transportation corridor for the Lewis-Clark Valley, and pedestrian safety remains a priority for state and local authorities managing traffic flow through the region.
