Lewiston is preparing for another shot at the world record for the longest line of cheesesteaks, with organizers planning to assemble 1,350 footlong sandwiches stretching more than a quarter mile through downtown on Saturday, Aug. 22.
The attempt will take place at Seventh and Main streets during Hot August Nights, the annual summer festival that draws crowds to the Lewis-Clark Valley. Happy Day Restaurants, Main Street Grill, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lewis Clark Valley are coordinating the effort.
Lewiston previously held the world record in 2023 with a 722.8-foot cheesesteak line, before Philadelphia surpassed that mark later the same year. The upcoming event aims to reclaim the title and establish a new benchmark.
Supporting Local Youth and Businesses
Tickets are priced at $10, with each purchase including a footlong cheesesteak served following the official measurement. All proceeds will go directly to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lewis Clark Valley, a nonprofit serving young people across the region.
Happy Day Restaurants is covering event costs and donating the food, enabling organizers to direct ticket revenue entirely to the youth organization. The cheesesteaks will feature locally sourced ingredients from area farms and businesses, keeping dollars within the community.
