Lewiston Christian School Cleared After Anonymous Shooting Threat

Police Respond to Cornerstone Christian School

Law enforcement responded to an active shooter threat at Cornerstone Christian School in Lewiston on May 6 after receiving an anonymous call warning of a potential attack.

Lewiston police were alerted to a possible threat at the school, located in the 800 block of 7th Avenue, after a caller reported receiving an anonymous message stating someone planned to come to the campus with a firearm to carry out a shooting.

Multiple officers from the Lewiston Police Department immediately responded to secure the building and ensure the safety of everyone inside. Nez Perce County sheriff’s deputies assisted in the response, helping officers quickly lock down both the interior and exterior of the school facility.

Building Secured, No Active Threat Found

After a thorough search of the premises, law enforcement determined that no shooting was taking place and that all occupants of the building were safe. The threat did not materialize into an actual incident.

Detectives from the Lewiston Police Department and agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrived on scene to conduct a full investigation. Law enforcement worked to identify who made the anonymous threat and interviewed witnesses as part of the ongoing probe.

Investigation Continues

The anonymous nature of the threat has complicated efforts to determine the source and intent behind the call. Federal involvement indicates authorities are treating the threat seriously, even though no actual danger was found at the school.

Anonymous threats against schools carry serious legal consequences under both state and federal law. Making false threats can result in felony charges, including communicating a threat of terrorism or making terroristic threats.

What Comes Next

The investigation into the source of the anonymous threat remains active. Law enforcement agencies will continue working to identify the individual responsible for the call.

School officials and law enforcement have not indicated whether additional security measures will be implemented at Cornerstone Christian School following the incident. Parents and community members await further updates as investigators work to bring the case to a conclusion.
