Annual Sale Supports Library Programs Year-Round
The Friends of the Library volunteer group recently completed their semi-annual book sale in the basement of the Lewiston City Library, with organizers thanking community members who supported the fundraising event.
Proceeds from the book sale help fund multiple library initiatives throughout Nez Perce County, including children’s and adult reading programs, the popular Summer Reading Program, and various community outreach efforts.
For residents who missed the spring sale, donated books remain available for purchase throughout the year at the Book Nook, located near the east entrance of the Lewiston City Library. The ongoing sales provide year-round opportunities for bargain book purchases while supporting local library programs.
Book Donations Welcome
The volunteer organization accepts donations of gently used books throughout the year to maintain inventory for both the Book Nook and the larger semi-annual sales. All donated materials contribute to funding library programs that serve readers across the community.
Friends of the Library representatives emphasized that volunteers work to inspire readers of all ages while strengthening community connections through literacy and imagination. The group relies entirely on donated books and volunteer labor to operate the sales and fund library programming.
What Comes Next
The next Friends of the Library Book Sale has been scheduled for December 3 through 5, 2026, at the Lewiston City Library basement. Organizers encouraged residents to mark their calendars and consider the sale for holiday shopping needs.
Community members interested in volunteering with Friends of the Library or donating books can contact the Lewiston City Library. The organization continues accepting book donations to support the December sale and ongoing Book Nook operations.
The December sale timing positions the event as an opportunity for holiday gift shopping while supporting local library programs that serve families throughout Lewiston and Nez Perce County.
