Master Gardener Diagnostic Plant Clinics Open in Lewiston

Lewiston-area residents with questions about their lawns, gardens, or trees now have a free resource available through the season. The University of Idaho Extension office in Nez Perce County has launched its Idaho Master Gardener Diagnostic Plant Clinics, offering no-cost gardening guidance to the public.

The clinics operate on a regular weekly schedule at the Nez Perce County Extension Office at 1239 Idaho St. in Lewiston. Walk-in hours run every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with additional evening sessions on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 4 to 7 p.m. — a schedule designed to accommodate working residents.

What Master Gardeners Can Help With

Trained volunteers at the clinic can tackle a wide range of yard and garden concerns, including identifying insects found on plants, diagnosing problems affecting trees and turf, offering soil care recommendations, and fielding general gardening questions. Residents are encouraged to bring plant samples and photographs to help gardeners pinpoint problems accurately.

The program reflects the kind of community-supported, practical resource that benefits Lewiston neighborhoods and rural properties alike across Nez Perce County. Whether dealing with an unknown pest, a struggling garden bed, or questions about soil health, the clinics offer expert guidance without cost to participants.

What Comes Next

The clinics will continue on their Tuesday and alternating Wednesday schedule throughout the growing season. Residents seeking assistance should visit the Extension Office at 1239 Idaho St. during posted hours and bring any relevant plant samples or photos to make the most of their visit.
