Three Lewis-Clark State College Students Selected for Sen. Crapo’s Summer Internship Program

Mike Crapo

Three Lewis-Clark State College students have been chosen to serve as summer 2026 interns in U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo’s Lewiston office, giving them direct exposure to congressional operations and constituent services in their own community.

The three interns are Autum Martinez, Katherine Maisch, and Tristan Hoffman. Martinez is a senior pursuing a justice studies degree with a pre-law minor. Maisch, a sophomore, is majoring in political science and holds minors in Spanish and environmental and behavioral science. Hoffman is studying history with minors in Spanish and communications.

The three LCSC students are part of a cohort of 11 interns and recent graduates placed across Crapo’s Idaho district offices and his Washington, D.C. office for the summer term. The program is designed to give participants hands-on experience with the legislative process, constituent outreach, and the day-to-day functions of a U.S. Senate office.

For students from the Lewis-Clark Valley, a placement in the local Lewiston office means engaging directly with the region’s communities — including issues that affect Nez Perce County residents, Port of Lewiston commerce, tribal affairs, and agricultural interests along the Snake and Clearwater rivers.

LCSC has long served as a pipeline for civic-minded students in north-central Idaho. Opportunities like this congressional internship complement the kind of leadership development also seen at the high school level across the region — including programs at Lewiston High School, where students have recently earned recognition at events like the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.

Sen. Crapo’s office has not announced a formal end date for the internship term, but placements are expected to run through the summer months. Students interested in future internship cycles are encouraged to contact Crapo’s Lewiston office directly for application information.
