World Jet River Championship Makes Stop in Lewiston

High-speed jet boat racing came to Lewiston on Thursday as competitors from four countries took to the Snake River for the USA World Jet River Race Championship at Hells Gate Marina.

Teams representing Australia, Canada, Mexico, and the United States participated in the event, drawing spectators to the waterfront to watch the boats navigate the course throughout the day. The international field made the Lewiston stop one of the more notable sporting events to hit the Lewis-Clark Valley this spring.

Championship Moves to St. Maries for Final Round

With the Lewiston leg complete, the championship now heads north to St. Maries, Idaho, where racing will take place on the St. Joe River. Competition is scheduled to begin Friday and run through May 17, wrapping up what has been a multi-venue tour across the state.

The Snake River corridor near Hells Gate Marina has long served as a natural venue for water-based recreation and competition, with access to some of the region’s most scenic stretches of river. Events like the jet boat championship help draw regional and international attention to Lewiston’s waterfront assets and the broader recreational opportunities along the Snake River.

Lewiston has been a busy hub for sports events this spring. The LC State Warriors recently hosted an NAIA Opening Round baseball game at Lewiston, defeating Keiser 7-3 and adding to the city’s growing profile as a destination for competitive athletics.

Fans interested in the championship’s final rounds can follow the action as it continues through the weekend in St. Maries. No further Lewiston-area dates have been announced for the current championship series.
